SEI is supporting system design efforts for the GLAST spacecraft. SEI is investigating high speed data networks and processor selections.

SEI is providing electrical design assistance for the development of the Tower Central Processing Unit (CPU) and of the Instrument Data Bus (IDB). The prototype of the Tower CPU is presently being designed using PC603E processor and associated support electronics to minimize power usage per instruction of processor usage. The IDB design approach is based on 2-Dimensional and Torus grid network topologies using recently developed semiconductors born out of research conducted in Europe.
