ELSE 2-Bay Rack

The ELSE 2-Bay Rack performs front end processing functions during launch operations and specific environmental tests. The ELSE 2-Bay Rack resides in the shuttle launch pad (PTCR Room 220) during launch to provide command transmission and telemetry acquisition functions to the ICM vehicle.

Capabilities and Functions

Performs post-shipment tests to the ICM Spacecraft.

Performs front end processing functions during testing and launch operations

Performs command transmission to the vehicle and telemetry acquisition functions independently in each bay

Provides redundant command and telemetry paths in the event of ground equipment failure

Provides power for charging vehicle batteries
